In 2019, the BDA’s definition of dyscalculia (Jarrett 2019) became accepted for the purposes of assessment and diagnosis in this country. In a similar way that the Rose definition of dyslexia (2009) transformed our understanding of the causes of development dyslexia and its diagnosis, the Jarrett definition will do the same for dyscalculia.
