Adult Committee Workshop

Support for once you leave school

Much emphasis is placed on supporting dyslexia at Primary and Secondary Level, but what happens next? For parents and students aged 16 and up, thinking of college, university or the world of work, a practical, multisensory workshop will be given. It will last half an hour with information, activities and time for questions.

Adult Committee - Cat Heale - BEd, Hornsby Diploma in SpLD (distinction), AMBDA


Cat Heale has had a diverse career in education; from preschool to primary, secondary, HE, the workplace and prisons, mostly in the area of the practical application of help for dyslexics. Dyslexic herself, a parent of two dyslexics (one in Edtech and the other a primary head) as well as being a teacher, lecturer and teacher trainer, she has a unique understanding and insight in to the difficulties and help for dyslexics at every stage of their life. Her viewpoint is entirely positive and hopeful.

Adult Committee - Alexandra Negoita - BSc Psychology, MSc Applied Psychology


Alexandra is a Visiting Lecturer in Psychology at Coventry University. She completed a BSc and an MSc degrees in Psychology under the supervision of Dr Georgia Niolaki and is currently undertaking a PhD focusing on mindfulness and compassion within higher education context. She is a qualified mindfulness and compassion teacher with a passion for inclusivity and holistic approaches to wellbeing.

Dr Georgia Niolaki is a Senior Lecturer in SpLD/Dyslexia and Inclusion at Bath Spa University and Visiting Research Associate at the Institute of Education, University of London. She is a Professional Member of the British Psychological Society, the Experimental Psychological Society and the British Dyslexia Association (she holds AMBDA and AMBDA FE/HE). She's a Trustee of the British Dyslexia Association and the North Warwickshire & Coventry Dyslexia Association, and Deputy Adult Representative of the Local Dyslexia Association Board.

Georgia is the Principal Investigator on educational/literacy research projects funded by several organisations, such as the BA/Leverhulme Small Research Grants, The British Academy. Georgia’s mission is to support individuals who struggle with literacy and help the world become an inclusive environment for everyone!
