New Children will Shine to launch thanks to Masonic Charitable Foundation

The British Dyslexia Association are delighted to announce they have received a grant from the Masonic Charitable Foundation for £20,000 that will enable the charity to deliver a Children will Shine project at the Wildridings school in Bracknell, Berkshire.
Commenting on the funding Dr. Kate Saunders, Chief Executive, British Dyslexia Association said “Thanks to this kind and generous grant we will be delivering the Children will Shine project at the Wildridings school in Bracknell. This project will support pupils in their primary school years, ensuring that they are given the best possible start. We aim to help children who take part, by preventing a widening of the attainment gap between them and their peers.”
Deputy Headteacher at the Wildridings school Anna Cook said; “We are so pleased to be able to offer the Children Will Shine project at Wildridings Primary. It is an amazing project to support children with their English and Maths as well as helping build their confidence in school. We would like to thank the Masonic Charitable Foundation for their generous donation which will enable the project to support even more children in the community.”
The project is expected to start with a launch event on Wednesday 14th September. The initial sessions will support 20 children (Year 3 to Year 6) who may be struggling with, phonics, literacy, numeracy and self-esteem. The children will work in small groups receiving support with strategies for spelling, reading comprehension, and numeracy.
The long term aim is to create a sustainable model in order to continue the project after the initial 18 months funded time period.
