Helen Arkell want Trustees

Wednesday 29 November 2017

The Board of Trustees of Helen Arkell Dyslexia Centre are looking for new Trustees. Our charity is going through an exciting time with much change and the appointment of a new CEO who is full of ideas for fundraising and for reaching out to the wider Dyslexia community. We have a very clear vision of delivering more of our teaching and assessment, that we are excellent at, to anyone who needs it. As for Trustees, we are specifically looking for professionals who are working in academic, educational or workplace environments actively supporting those who are dyslexic. We currently have a vibrant Board of 9 Trustees with various backgrounds, skills and expertise, who are all engaged with the vision and strategy for the charity are keen to welcome new trustees.

Trusteeship can be rewarding for many reasons - from a sense of making a difference to the charitable cause, to new experiences and relationships. Trustees are accountable for the future of the charity and so they have a strategic as well as management view of the work of the charity and its future. It is a fascinating role. It provides insight into how Boards can provide strategic leadership and how charities work. Although it is voluntary, it is also a prestigious addition to a CV for anyone working in the area of Dyslexia. It will enable you to contribute your time, skills, knowledge and abilities to enable those who are dyslexic, especially those who cannot afford to pay, to benefit from the excellence of Helen Arkell teaching and assessments.
