This session will include strategies on how to study and work from home as well as success stories to inspire young people.

Clive will begin the session with an Introduction to helping young people when studying at home. He will use a number of scenarios to recreate some of the problems and difficulties a dyslexic child may experience working at home. He will illustrate strategies to get things done effectively and explain why no two days are the same and that it’s okay to struggle.

Rob will be delivering a 20 minute session aimed at inspiring and parents and teachers of young people with dyslexia. The session will include stories and anecdotes about his (anonymous) dyslexic clients who have achieved significant levels of success and enjoyment in their professions. Rob will explain the kind of support available to adults once they reach the workplace.

Rob will also provide opportunities for guests to ask questions.

Target Audience

Parents, young people, SEN teachers, HR/ occupational health professionals, union reps, anyone who advocates for neurodiverse people.

Clive Armitage is the chair of Cheshire and North Wales Dyslexia Association (CNWDA) and lives in Crewe.

Rob Pickersgill works in partnership with CNWDA through his company Real Life Learning. Rob provides support for people with dyslexia and other disabilities. Both have worked together in further and adult education since 1996.
